“Ruby Slippers”
(c) 2017 by earl kayoss

Watching the news from your rocking chair world

you don’t recognize the face of the girl

who climbed up the church and hangs from the steeple

in view of the town and all its good people.

As her ruby slippers gleam in the sun.

The Wizard Of Oz says, “Her dream has just begun.”

Thinking all hope is lost and gone with the wind

you stand on your chair… slide a rope passed your grin…

and outside your window the thunder begins.

The rain at first silent, now a terrible din

is the sound of all souls swept away by the storming

of life’s little habit to change without warning

Take what you learn from  “The Sound Of Music”

keep it in your heart and don’t ever lose it.

Our lives, like the days, come and they go…

and think what you will but we don’t really know…

after the breathing, after this show

is there another movie… where no one grows old?

Every sunrise, come daylight, your eyes and your blinds close.
